Sorry I missed last night but I was a bit preoccupied. I am quite the romantic when I want to be! It is important to have more in your life than work and baseball, occasionally anyway. I hatched a great plan a few weeks ago and it worked to perfection this week!

Step 1: My wife and I had a typical anniversary on the actual day of our anniversary, softball practice! It always happens because our tournament of champions starts right then. This set up the perfect ambush!
Step 2: I called my mother-in-law and informed her I needed her to come over Friday night and watch the kids.
Step 3: She got a card and wrote in it for my wife to pack a bag, a bathing suit, and dress nice, we were going out!
Step 4: I booked a room at the Plaza in Daytona Beach
Step 5: I booked reservations at Hyde Park Restaurant in the Hilton in Daytona Beach
Step 6: I picked up my wife from work and we headed out
Step 7: We had a marvelous dinner and retreated to our room after a stroll through ocean walk in Daytona
Step 8: (this was the polish). My wife said we needed to check out right away. I told her to call her mom and bring the kids over because we had not only this suite, but the one next to it for the kids!

She was floored! Here I sit now w/ a dead tired family in the Plaza in Daytona Beach. Very nice. We rode go-carts at Daytona Lagoon and got ice cream at Cold Stone . This after spending the day as a family on the beach and at the pool. A great day and night!

We have to check out tomorrow unfortunately, but we will probably hit a few shops and fun things on the way out. This has been a great fun weekend and the calm before the storm.

All-Stars are announced tonight and we start practice on Monday. Every night and twice on Saturday. Will be very busy! We are hosting sectionals, so we hope to win the district and get into the sectional. This will be a huge feat, but we can do it if we put our mind to it.

What do you do for get-away weekends?
