A Day at Tropicana
We had a very nice Sunday at Tropicana Park in Tampa today. Watched the Rays beat the White Sox w/ a walk-off homer from Gabe Gross ?????? WHO?????, yeah, that’s what I said. This was a weird game. Not a lot of routine plays, two balls hit the bases, 2 or 3 diving catches, not much power, not a single stolen base , a pick-off on first and 2 triples! Oh yeah, and 10 innings! Fun was had by all!
I recorded a bunch of it but am home to late to put it all together. I will probably not be able to get to it for a few days because of the Tournament of Champions.
Florida Blows it
Did you see that terrible base running blunder by Corrie Brooks (I think it was her) from Florida ? My little league girls wouldn’t have run into a double play in that situation. STOP, break up the double play! Give the next batter a chance to hit a sac fly! Very poor execution and they did not deserve to win.
VA Tech Quandary
It was hard to decide who to cheer for when they played VA Tech . So many quandaries! How can you root for Tech when your whole family went to UVA? How can you root against a team from VA even though you now live in FL? I didn’t know who to root for so I decided to watch the game and cheer for whoever won in the next round.
A Good Time was had by All
Tropicana was a nice place and seeing the looks on the kids faces there was awesome! My 8YO had only been to a single A minor’s game before, never a big stadium like Tropicana. He was in awe! The girls even had fun!
Busy week ahead, should be fun!

And even though you have your roots in the Florida now, you ALWAYS cheer for a fellow conference mate. I know that conflicts a little w/ VT being in the ACC now, but we all want the conference to look good whenever possible.
Yes, born and raised on the Cavaliers back from the Ralph Samson and Jeff Jones days. I guess we always have to cheer for the ACC, but UF is a pretty good school. Just wish they weren’t in the SEC!
I have never really liked FSU and UVA stinks at everything now, so I don’t have much to cheer for down here! I will stick w/ the Redskins and the Yankees!
