    Don’t Quit!

I have a pet peeve that drives me insane! Why do people quit? Why did you sign up in the first place if you were going to quit? And where are the parents in this equation? If the kid doesn’t want to play, you have to make them. They signed up for a team, they are part of the organization, and they have to stay until the end. Otherwise they are learning bad life’s lessons.

This is not unusual though, especially since those kids that are permitted quit often come from parents who have quit the positions they committed to on the board, as the team parent, in the concessions, etc. Looking closer, one can usually spot a pattern in the parent’s workplace as well.

Little League is about much more than playing ball. Teaching our children responsibility and commitment to team are two of the most important lessons we learn as children. These lessons are taught and learned at this level whether we like it or not. Those that are dedicated understand and learn to respect each other, those that quit, lose the respect of their friends and coaches.

If you sign up for a team, be there for the team.
