Hi there, I wanted to alert your attention to a very wonderful book on being a committed sports mom…
My friend Pam Carey jsut finished her book called Minor League Mom (Barking Cat Pub).
It details the life and times where she and her husband Charley guided both of their sons from little league to ivy leagues to the minor leagues (Boston Pawsox)!!!
The book is so wonderfully written and if you dont have kids in little league (like me) then you know what it takes and all the ins, outs, triumphs and bumps in the road along the way. The thing that stood out the most for me was that both Pam and Charley always kept things in perspective. While they were avid cheering fans for both thier sons, they also instilled an attitude that you thrive for baseball because you love to play and its fun… Of course they were competitive, but sometimes I think that the prize becomes too much of the game and then its not fun anymore…
http://www.minorleaguemom.net – check it out.
Anyway I thought this might be a peice of useful advice for other Mom’s out there who are starting the journey!
Send me a copy and I will be happy to review it.
HOw can I get this e mail below to all the movers and shakers in the American Little League “world”
Dear so and so:
Re: 13 year old dies when hit in chests by baseball
What a pleasure you put your e mail address on your website
So many websites have no “contact” information whatsoever frustrating my
attempt to contact those who are administrators in Little League Organization
I am simply trying to send out e mails to anyone and everyone who are part of “little league”
I am suggesting that in the wake of the death of the 13 yr old who was hit in the chest
that all little league kids now start wearing some kind of protective cover over their chests
They wear helmets on their heads, how about a protective vest?
Isn’t that a no brainer?
Let’s not let this happen again
Are you willing to help forward this information to everyone in America involved in “little league”
How would one do that?

Michael,
As unfortunate as that event was, I would be against a chest protector in the game. Thank you for your post though.
